Meet at our office (4154 Village Stroll Whistler) to check in and sign your waiver.

Be dressed and ready to ski. Please don't be late: we can't wait.

08:00 am

We drive guests in our 4x4 vehicle to our simple base lodge where we have a cozy fireplace and bathroom facilities. After a short talk on the day's proceedings and a helicopter safety briefing, we load up and head out into the backcountry.

After that, it's time to get our first taste of the day's snow. You will be at around 6,500 feet altitude ready for the first run of the day. The first run is always mellow to let everyone get warmed up, and to allow the guides to get an idea of the ability level of the group.

The groups' ability and snow conditions determine what kind of terrain and runs we will be riding.

After a couple of runs, the group will shutdown for a packed lunch heli-picnic style.

2:15pm- 2:30pm

At the end of your day, we fly back to base.

4:00pm

You return to our Base Lodge, check out the photos, then transfer into our 4x4 vans and head back to Whistler.

To give you some insight into our risk management process a high level look into a day in the life of our team is as follows.

0715: Road sweep cat departs for the trails and the tour drivers get busy prepping the tour cats for the day.

0730: Guide assigned to hazard forecasting presents the avalanche hazard forecast for the day and discussion about terrain use follows.

0800: We suit up and boot up to be ready for guest arrival at 0820 or so.

0835: Guest receive a cat or heli orientation including safety procedures prior to departure. Some of the orientation will take place in the cat.

0930-14:30: Guiding team continuously assess the hazards of the day.

BOOKING TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Terms and Conditions Agreement. Please read these Booking Terms & Conditions (T&Cs) carefully. These T&Cs in their entirety constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Powder Mountain Catskiing Ltd., dba Powder Mountain Heliskiing & Catskiing and Powder Mountain. By making a booking with Powder Mountain Catskiing Ltd. (referred to as Powder Mountain, us, our, we or similar in these T&Cs), you are agreeing, on behalf of yourself and all other individuals that you book for, to be bound by these T&Cs. You further agree you are acting as an agent for such individuals, and these T&Cs apply to them, and it is your responsibility to bring these to their attention. 

1. T&Cs Binding on Non-Booking Guests.

1. By agreeing to participate in a booking with Powder Mountain, you agree to be bound by these T&Cs regardless of when you were added to the booking. All non-booking guests must complete our Guest Registration Form, which includes acceptance of these T&Cs and agreement to sign the Release Agreement, as a condition of participating in a booking. Each adult must complete their own Guest Registration Form and a parent/legal guardian must complete it for their minor. A non-booking guest’s participation in the reservation is only confirmed once they have completed their Guest Registration Form. Individuals who do not complete this form will not be permitted to participate in the booking. If you do not agree to be bound by these T&Cs, do not proceed with participating.

2. If you are booking for others, you must provide us with the name and email of each person who wishes to participate in the booking in a timely manner. If you wish to change the name of a guest, please contact us at your earliest convenience so we can provide them with a Guest Registration Form, which incudes a copy of these T&Cs and the Release Agreement, for their review and agreement.

2. Release Agreement (Waiver) Required

2. All guests are required to read and agree to our Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement (referred to as the “Release Agreement” or “Waiver”) as a condition of participating in any booking with us. If the Release Agreement is not completed, the individual will not be permitted to participate. By agreeing to the Release Agreement, you waive or give up legal rights to sue or claim compensation following an accident. The Release Agreement can be reviewed here Powder Mountain Waiver and in the Guest Registration Form. PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY!

   1. A paper copy of the Release Agreement will be provided for review and completion at the start of the trip. Each adult must complete their own and a parent/legal guardian must complete it for anyone under 19.

   2. This waiver requirement applies to all guests who wish to participate. The acceptance of any payment by Powder Mountain does not in any way waive or alter the terms of this Release Agreement (Waiver) Required section.

   3. If you are booking for others, it is your responsibility to inform them of this requirement and the terms of the Release Agreement.

3. Acknowledgment and Acceptance of Risk.

3. Heli-skiing and Cat-Skiing involves risks, dangers, and hazards, including avalanches. All guests must be aware of and willingly assume the risks, dangers and hazards associated with participating. For a list of risks, dangers and hazards, review the Powder Mountain Waiver By participating, you agree you are aware of and fully and voluntarily assume these risks, dangers and hazards, including the risk of avalanche. You are responsible for maintaining the necessary physical fitness and skills required to participate in the trip. You will stay alert to risks, dangers and hazards, act prudently throughout the trip, and bring any concerns to our attention immediately.

4. Payment

4. All Pricing is in Canadian Dollars (CND).

5. Payment of the full amount is due at the time of booking and refunds are subject to our Cancellation Policies below.

5. Cancellation By Guest.

   1. Cancel up to 48 hours before departure for your trip and receive a full refund.

   2. Cancel between 48 and 12 hours before departure for your trip and receive a 75% refund.

   3. Cancel within 12 hours of your trip or “No Shows”, no refund will be issued.

2. Cancellations by Powder Mountain

1. Partial Day Refunds. If Powder Mountain cancels your heli-ski or cat-ski day partway through due to weather or helicopter/snowcat availability, we will refund you on a per-run basis (based on 6 runs being a full day). For clarity, this does not apply: (i) if you choose, for any reason, to end your day early or to sit out on any run; (ii) if you are removed from completing the full day due to your violation of any policy or rule or due to an injury; or (iii) for private heli-skiing or cat-skiing, if 6 runs are not achieved due to skier ability or the groups’ choice to allocate time in a way that impacts skiing time.

2. Weather & Operational Cancellations. Powder Mountain reserves the right to cancel any trip in full for any reason. If Powder Mountain cancels your trip for any reason, a full refund will be issued.

3. Injury Policy. Powder Mountain does not provide refunds for injuries sustained during your experience. Please consult your personal insurance provider for coverage options.

4. Powder Mountain not liable for any additional costs or expenses: Powder Mountain will not be responsible for any travel, interruption or additional costs or lost opportunities, including without limitation, cancellation fees, airfare, third-party accommodations, meals, rental charges, services charges, lost deposits or payments, or for any direct, indirect, consequential, liquidated, compensatory, or incidental damages or any other damages or amounts of any nature whatsoever.

5. Spots cannot be resold. Guests are not permitted to sell their booking directly to another guest. If you want to make changes to a reservation, contact us directly.

6. Age Requirements, Skiing with Minors and Ability.

1. Powder Mountain requires that guests are a minimum of 19 years or older to ski on their own.

2. Guests between the ages of 12 and 18 years of age (a minor) may book but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times while skiing/riding.

   1. Release Agreement for the minor must be signed by the parent/legal guardian that will be skiing/riding with them. It is the parent/legal guardian’s responsibility to review the risk, dangers and hazards with the minor prior to the trip.

   2. All minors must be an experienced powder skier or boarder.

   3. Powder Mountain is not responsible for the supervision of minors.

   4. If you have a minor in your group, we recommend a private heli or cat so that you can ski at the speed required by the minor. Please keep the rest of the group in mind if you intend to book a public trip. If your minor is unable to keep up with the group, they will have to ride in the cat or be flown back to the base area with no refund.

   5. All participants should be an experienced powder skier or snowboarder and should be ski/snowboard fit.

7. Heli-Skiing Packages

A heli-skiing package includes the following:

1. 4 guests plus 1 guide per group.

2. Minimum 6 runs with extra runs at no extra costs if conditions and time allows (at guide’s sole discretion). Refunds for less than 6 runs will be in accordance with the section titled “Partial Day Refunds” above.

3. Avalanche safety briefing and gear provided (beacon, probe and shovel).

4. Packed hot lunch.

5. Return ground transportation between Whistler Village and operation base.

6. If you have booked private heli-skiing – up to 2 hours of flight time in an A-Star (AS350) helicopter unless another type of helicopter is agreed to. Extra flight time may be purchased at $500 CAD _ GST per 0.1 hour (6-minutes).

8. Cat-Skiing Packages

A cat-skiing package includes the following:

1. Up to 12 guests plus 2 guides per group (if you book private cat-skiing – the whole cat is for your group).

2. Minimum 6 runs with extra runs at no extra costs if conditions and time allows (at guide’s sole discretion). Refunds for less than 6 runs will be in accordance with the section titled “Partial Day Refunds” above.

3. Avalanche safety briefing and gear provided (beacon, probe and shovel).

4. Packed hot lunch.

5. Return ground transportation between Whistler Village and operation base.

6. Professional photos of your day (extra cost of $100 per person for public cat-skiing or extra cost of $750 for private cat-skiing booking).

9. Alcohol & Drug Policy: Participating in activities organized by Powder Mountain while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. You acknowledge and agree that whenever participating in an activity organized by Powder Mountain, you and the members of your party will not be impaired by or use any substance, including, but not limited to, alcohol, cannabis, illegal drugs, prescription narcotics and other controlled substances. We reserve the right to refuse service to any guest appearing under the influence of alcohol or drugs prior to departure, and the right to terminate the experience if a guest consumes alcohol or drugs during the trip, in each case without compensation and at the guest’s expense.

10. Respectful Behaviour: We are committed to providing a welcoming, safe and respectful environment for all guests and staff. Any form of violence or harassment will not be tolerated and may result in immediate termination of services and expulsion from the trip without refund or compensation and at the guest’s expense.

11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction. The trip booking and all disputes relating to or arising out of the booking and these T&Cs, and any injury, loss or damage suffered by a guest while participating in a booking, are governed by and will be interpreted solely in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia and no other jurisdiction and any litigation shall be brought solely within British Columbia and shall be within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of British Columbia.

Included in the private heli-skiing booking is 2.0 hours of flight time. If your group wants to keep skiing beyond this time, extra flight time may be purchased at $500 CAD + GST per 0.1 hour (6-minutes).

Our helicopter operator, Black Tusk Helicopters, holds the tenure for 247,000 acres of terrain West of Squamish and Whistler.

It's almost safe to say if you've ever thought about skiing anything you can see from Highway 99 to the Powder Mountain base lodge on your way up to Whistler, you can ski it with Powder Mountain Heliskiing.
