What a day! We decided it was time for a little staff appreciation day at Powder Mountain. Time for a few... "See you at the cat" type runs. Top to bottom on Edgeworths, braaaaaaaaaaaaaap is the sound you make on the 200th turn.
Such a good time. We hiked up to Sugarcrisp and laid some tracks down there, hit McKinney's, slayed 808 trees. 808 trees was I think my best run of the year. Everytime I do it, I get a wicked top section, then a not so good line through the cliff area, then an awesome bottom part through the trees. This time I finally slayed the line I was looking for all winter. Wicked top, the line I was looking for all year through the cliff section, I hit a perfect slot that I straight lined and then came out at the bottom of the cliff band at mach and bombed into the lower trees. I was at the bottom of the run, board off and chilling for 30 seconds before anyone came out of the trees. Ahh hahahahahaha
Bailey had the biggest air of the year of Holy Roller. I guinea pigged it and went out OK distance. Bailey sent it waaaaaay out and went a solid 40 to flat. Ahhh young punk knees. Definite air of the year. Schwarty and I double lined this pipe on Martino's him on the left wall and me on the right throwing roosters. Nick went faster than he usually did. He was in no rush to get to the farm. He would have kept skiing all night if he could have. Seamus wouldn't stop smiling. At first we thought he knew something we didn't. Ahhh no. We all knew it. 22,000 vert in one day. I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
Bailey rocked his helmet cam all day so you can pretend you were here... Sort of. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=30348340011
Gord got out of the drivers seat and got a couple good runs in on the skis and then swapped out Schwartz and went for a run on a snowboard. He's only ever done the magic Chair on Blackcomb so that was good for a laugh. Watching Schwarty throw down some old school styles in Sorels with Feltpack liners was pretty funny. Super Styley! Jeff tossed an Lincoln Loop of the cornice and... um... well... didn't make it and kinda jacked himself but nothing hurts till 4 pm.
After riding we fired up the BBQ at the lodge and celebrated the great year with big fat steaks on the BBQ and some cold beers.
Thanks for such an awesome year!
See you all next winter.
And yes it's still snowing!
Ken
Mike loving the fact that he doesn't have to carry a camera. He jumed so much he got named "Tigger" by Nick.
Jesse and the rest of us out of the office!
Lincoln Loop of doom for Jeff
