One of Powder Mountain's owners is on the cover of the Santa Barbara Independent. In a history of snowboarding story in the
Santa Barbara Independent, Ken Achenbach is on the cover jumping a
cliff in Chute 22 in Lake Tahoe back in the 84/85 winter. The story on Santa
Barbara legend Chuck Barfoot is a good one. Chuck was Ken's first
sponsor and is still one of his best friends on earth. And yes Chuck is
as funny as the story makes him out to be.
Scotty Starr shot the photo. Scotty was the photo editor at Thrasher
for years and one of the original snowboard photograpers. Now he is
writing a book on the history of snowboarding.
